  • It really annoys me when people lecture other guitarists on how they should be playing. Saying he NEEDS a thumpick, he NEEDS to hold the guitar between his knees, he NEEDS place his thumb behind the fretboard... Bullshit! There is no right or wrong way of playing. You play how you feel comfortable. That's why the guitar is so personal, and why there are so many unique styles. The way you play doesn't make any difference as long as the music sounds good, and this sounded pretty damn good to me!

  • slightly fast but otherwise sound

  • Good Job maaan!!

  • He did fine without one. You don't NEED anything but a guitar and the will to better yourself.

  • Where is your thumb pick? To get the bass groove you need a thumbpick!

  • thats what i was thinking too!

  • it's not that you suddenly play better when you're such position.

what you explained is just the classical way of having your guitar.

Most western guitar players have their guitar over their right knee.

when you do the Alexander technique you should have your guitar between your legs. but you are not forced to use that technique. It's just what you find the most comfortable. Andy Mckee plays with the guitar on his right knee (self taught) and Antoine has a classical background

  • Surprises me how so many relatively good right handed classical guitar players hang the body of the guitar over their right knee.

To play better you need only to sit the body of the guitar between your knees with your left hand level with your eyes.

The thumb goes behind the neck and not over the top of the fret board.

Antoine Dufour has a true classical guitar style and body position.

Apart from his enormous talent his correct technique is what sets him apart from so many others.

  • Good job man, but slow it down a bit, your a bit too fast on the ol' tempo!

  • good stuff
