Today we are going to cover part number TL29BK from Optronics. What we have here is the standard trailer light kit, and it comes complete with a 25-foot harness. We will go ahead and cover the components of this kit and show you where the parts go. First we will cover some of the major components.

Obviously, we have the two tail lights here. Both come with a built-in marker light on the side, and there is a left and a right to them. For instance, on this one here you have the clear light. That is for the license plate light, so it will go right above the license plate bracket. And the bracket actually has holes that line up for easy mounting. And then we also have the right turn here and no clear bottom, and also, again, the side marker light built in. Then we have the two running lights here, and they go on the side of the trailer in front of the rear axle. And a single bulb with a single stud and a wire that will power it is tucked in right now. And next we have the actual harness itself, and you can see there are actually two connectors here. This connector is one that actually goes on the car - if you need a new 4-pole connector you can use this, but it is separate. And this is the harness and the rest of the wire that goes onto your trailer.

Now, this is considered a 4-pole flat. You have got the ground, you have got the running light, and you have the left turn and the right turn. But if you notice back behind the connector, there are five wires. You have got the ground, you actually have two running light wires, and you have the left turn and the right turn. Now, the reason why there are two running light wires is, basically, you are going to split this harness down the two different sides of the trailer. So think of it as a giant V - so you have got one half of the V going down the right-hand side of the trailer, and one half going down the left-hand side. And you need the brown wire going down both sides because you are going to each of the tail lights and also the running lights. At the opposite end of the harness, you can see it is split here, too. You have green for right turn and the brown for running lights. That would run straight behind the tail light here, and then you have the yellow and brown for the left-turn signal, and that would go into its light too. And your side marker lights here, that wire would actually be spliced into the brown wire, one on each side. And that is a typical application of it. And there you have it for part number TL29BK from Optronics.

  • @toyotahonda1329 We have some trailer lights that would bolt to the trailer, a pedestal mount trailer light, on our website at etrailer(dot)com. We also have lights that are mounted to the bottom of your trailer. If you go to our website you can find these lights under Trailer Lights. If you have further questions about whether these will fit your application, you can ask one of our resident experts to help you find something that will work for your trailer.

  • really helpful
