Svitlana Borysenko of Bravo Pysanka interviewed by Iryna Korpan of Svitholiad Ukrainian TV. Svitlana presents a variety of wooden and hand painted Pysanky, or Ukrainian Easter Eggs, and many other Easter gift souvenirs made in Ukraine.
The Carpathian Mountains in Western Ukraine are known for their forests, and the Hutsul people, who live there, and who are known for their woodcraft. These mountain people have been fashioning handcrafted items from wood for countless generations. Topmost among these are wooden Pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs).
The Hutsuls believe that the fate of the world depends on the Pysanka. As long as the egg decorating custom continues, the world will continue to exist. The most common mode of decorating a wooden egg is painting by brush. The Wooden Easter Egg (Pysanka) is a wonderful addition to any collection.
