weird rare fish

i found these pictures in my email, they don't have any detail of these fish, but i think this is called a oarfish,

i wonder, if the fish still alive or the men have killed the fish.. they should let the fish go, or put it in aquarium or something.. poor fish!

Yes, the animal in these pictures is called an oarfish. Though they are rarely seen by humans, they are not endangered, nor have they ever been. They live very deep in the ocean and only come near the surface when they are either about to lay eggs or about to die. This is why they are usually filmed and photographed dead, rather than alive. So, you needn't worry about these critters; they're doing just fine. ;)

I both love and hate seeing video of oarfish. I love it because they're beautiful creatures and are rare, but I hate it because when they come to the surface it means that they're dieing. It saddens me to see such a beautiful animal dieing. I would love to one day encounter one of these myself.

I'd like to see an aquarium big enough to hold an oarfish. They get 30 feet long! And if it's on the surface then it's going to die no matter what they do. Oarfish only come to the surface of the water to die.
