Matt Barkley of Mater Dei High School in California has all of the tools that colleges look for in a quarterback. He has a great frame, poise in the pocket, and the arm strength to make all the necessary throws. He showed off the total package in this showdown with Centennial by completing 21 of 31 passes for 364 yards and two touchdowns.

None of them started as freshman and took every snap under center. It's a lot easier when you have to learn 2-3 packages that you run only in specific situations, as opposed to learning the ENTIRE playbook, audibles, offensive nuisances, etc. as an 18 year old. It's very rare that you see a freshman QB as a starter at one of the major college football programs like USC, UF, UT, Bama, etc. for a reason, even when they bring in 5-star QBs.
