From the DVD:

Mars, Venus or Planet Earth?
Women & Men in a New Millennium

We've heard again and again that men and women are engaged in a "battle of the sexes," that we're so differently wired and so foreign to each other that we might as well come from different planets. In this powerful new lecture, renowned speaker and bestselling author Michael Kimmel (The Gendered Society, Manhood in America) turns this conventional wisdom on its head. With clarity and humor, Kimmel moves beyond the popular inter-planetary notion that "men are from Mars and women are from Venus" to advance a decidedly more earth-bound and inter-connected view of the things men and women have in common. This is an accessible and entertaining introduction to gender politics and gender theory — as intellectually informative as it is inspiring, and suited for use across a range of disciplines and courses.

  • This clown is an absolute fraud.

  • @MrBastilleDay He is a gender traitor in the most insidious way, acting as if he endorses male enlightenment but in actuality promoting the worst aspects of Feminism. THIS GUY WRITES FOR MS. MAGAZINE.

He is either programmed beyond belief or he is being paid off by the Feminists.

  • Hmm-I always thought his voice would be at least kind of gruff and forceful. I knew he hated his own gender but I thought he was the sort that did that was SOMEwhat tough. He sounds like my little sister did at 15. I just listened for one min. Then stopped.

  • we need to view the world threw every bodies eyes and not limit our selfs as one type of person white, black, christian, atheist, poor, rich. " we need to see big picture and the little details in it too" feel free to quote me lol

  • @joelface No it's not you sheep. Google manwomanmyth, go to the video page and watch every single video in the right order. Take no video in isolation. See them all as one.

  • @joelface You've confused Feminism with a vague equity movement. Feminism is about ending *only* the Feminist-identified sexism by increasing behavioral and economic restrictions on men while spending more money on women. Do any colleges have a Men's Center? How about a VAMA Act to fund men's studies?

Whenever a Feminist is called on her sexism, someone states that she is not a real Feminist. OK. Please refer to me a "real" Feminist author, and I'll add her book to my large collection.

  • @feministsAreCorrupt - For someone who is SO committed to the topic of feminism, such as yourself, I am surprised by how narrow of a scope you understand about the movement.

Feminism on a broad scale is about ending sexism. PERIOD. That's what it is.

If someone pushes the rights of women OVER that of men, then in that instance you have a RIGHT as a human, to question their acts. In fact, from a feminist standpoint, you could call THEM on sexism.

Instead you are failing to participate. lame.

  • @joelface " Sometimes being a feminist means fighting for the rights of men too,"

No, Feminism is only for the advancement of women, primarily at the expense of men.

  • @multiquantumcheck "Males are quicker to aggression (Frey et al. 2003)"

Male aggression and competition and the male culture that hones them can be used to explain the remaining sex wage gap and workplace performance.

  • @trueswordsexpert0909 - but I'm a man and a feminist. You've defined the term too narrowly. I'm a feminist and you can't deny that to be the case. I think we all deserve EQUAL treatment. Sometimes being a feminist means fighting for the rights of men too, it always means fighting for the rights of those who are not given the same privilege. Maybe you don't like the word "feminist"... how about "equalist" ?

Not all feminists always agree, but we all want to fight oppression and misconceptions.
