James Thiérrée
Raoul
13 - 24 Oct 2009
Barbican Theatre
Acrobat, clown, poet and magician, James Thiérrée creates a world of endless invention. As one of Europes most extraordinarily versatile artists, Thiérrée uses his impish talent to transform everyday objects into magical dream-like spectacles that captivate, charm and inspire.
In this new solo show, Thiérrée is Raoul, a man without beginning or end, who tumbles through a series of utopian fantasies in which acrobatics, mysterious transformations, music and dance collide a world which is at once recognisable and yet utterly alien.
Thiérrée mischievously teases the audience whilst demonstrating his formidable skills through delightful visual comedy.

He has been to Romania a few days ago, I was at the show. Well.... I may dare to say that I am he's biggest fan. I LOVE YOU JAMES

I also just saw him at BAM and was absolutely blown away by him! I have seen some amazing physical work but his, along with his great and unique storytelling, puts him well ahead all the others. He's remarkable. So glad I saw this show.

Just saw this at BAM. Totally unique, beautiful, amazing and one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Who said "mimes" aren't cool ? I will probably go again!

Note, the film is not slowed down. He is moving in slow motion all on his own. This show is now at BAM in NYC through November 14, 2010, and is AMAZING!

Amazing how he and his work resembles that of his grandfather, Sir Charles Chaplin. Wonderful imagination.

C'est le trio de Schubert, utilisé aussi dans Barry Lindon de Kubick. Magnifique, non?
