The Asian Tsunami of December 2004 left a trail of destruction in South and Southeast Asia. Picking up from where the news media left off, Children of Tsunami tracks the recovery of eight affected families in the four hardest hit countries. TVE Asia Pacific's locally based TV journalist teams are visiting and filming with them every month in 2005 to track their recovery.
In October 2005, our families realise that traditional religious festivals bring back memories as well as healing. In Sri Lanka, Heshani's dream of a new house suffers a temporary setback due to the lack of running water. Meanwhile, Theeban's father receives a new lease of life after buying a motorcycle. In Indonesia, thoughts of their lost siblings, continues to haunt the families of Putri and Yenni - 10 months after the tsunami. In Thailand, Bao's family members find solace in the Tenth Month Festival of Buddhist merit making.
