@ClassValedictorian Well neither the Republicans nor the Democrats seem THAT extreme to me. Of course, the Republican ideology would never be tolerated in Britain, but for the most part it's not what I'd call extreme.
I think the US could benefit mostly from Proportional Representation on a state level (the UK has PR for devolved assemblies in Scotland, NI and Wales), but I would warn against adopting it on a federal level.

@BasilFawlty4444 It's a bit different over here. The extreme parties are the majority that run the country. The reasonable parties are the ones that can't get representation under first past the post.

@ClassValedictorian Proportional representation should be avoided at all costs. It causes deadlock within government - parties have to form coalitions, which seldom work properly. Government becomes based on coalitions and half-measures, and extreme parties get representation. PR has caused terrible problems in Belgian politics.
I live in the UK, and we recently had a referendum on adopting AV (a semi-PR system). Unsurprisingly, we stuck with First Past the Post by 70%.

@mikecleona Proportional Representation. Other countries do it. It needs to happen here.

@Silentsam7532 There are, in fact, more than 2 parties in the US. Libertarian, Green, Constitution, Socialist, Workers World, Prohibition, American, and others. Most Americans aren't aware of these minor parties because they rarely get on the ballot, due to restrictions placed by the so-called major parties. Also, the smaller parties can't generate the funding needed for needed airtime in the media. America needs free ballot access for all parties. Then let the voters decide.
-
@mikecleona Ya, I don't understand why there is only 2 parties in the US. The other parties are great for keeping the more powerful two in check up here in Canada. The conservatives and liberals always know if hey srew up we can always vote NDP.
The funny part is that there are people in the US who still buy what Republicans say. Republicans are always the worst for their economy and only pander to the rich. They actually prey on the undereducated to vote for them.

I think that it would have made an awesome intro for the movie! With all the remakes that Hollywood has put out in the past few years, I'm suprised that they didn't redo this one!

enjoy your time on earth while you have it, and try not to be such a douchebag while you're at it.

I agree. We are drones. They are playing the statistics. It's the non voters they would fear if they voted. However they only need to focus on the 50percent ot the half or less that vote. So that's 25 percent or less that are making the choice for us. Then the appointed do what ever they hell they want. So Bush did and now O'bama.

actually, republicans spend most of their campaigns telling you how the government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it :)

The enviornment corrects the problems but not necessarily to man's liking.
