While working Jerome Basilio's Rubix Cube from the Pyramid we came up with a new position and a bunch of new submissions off of it. Tell me what you think. 8th Street Gym, Grand Junction, Colorado. Jeff Barney, Felipe Soto, filmed by Jorge "El Original" Carrasco.

  • there's a clip going round at the moment of a judo guy doing something very similar. Nothing is new in seems

  • @graciehunter100 What is the clip, would like to see it.

    Wolverine

  • Isnt that the stock?

  • @Scouserrrr08 No the stock is a different move, check it out on submission 101 and then re-watch this video.

    Wolverine

  • chances are, people have already been doing this for a while. the difference is, wolverine, and his rollmates, have developed an intricate system that revolves around the puppet master. so, yeah you're right that the puppetmaster has been done before. but, i highly doubt that anyone, besides wolverine, has connected the puppetmaster with the various other techniques in the rest of the series. big ups goes to wolverine for this awesome series. i'll be trying this out once i get my purple :)

  • this technique is aswome gonna try it out and i've also seen this on the video called mysterious newaza

  • oh god wolverine

  • Its the Asylum sweep.(submissions 101/10th planet name) ITs my favorite thing to go for when im on my back because once i get that crucifix position(?puppet master?) ive never had anyone escape without getting caught in something else.. So many directions to go with that move.. i personally like to hit that sweep from rubber guard.

  • For MMA this reminds me of a crucifix, as long as you keep the 1 arm under your back and keep your leg up and toes curled so hes not gettin his other arm out, if your submissions are for some reason not workin or you just like to pound a guy you can beat his face all day. I love this move.

  • My cousin Jorge filmed this video. We sure are going to miss him. RIP primo.

  • this is vicious...

  • @graciehunter100, Why the fuck to do even feel the need to post that? Who cares, this is an instructional. Maybe they did not INVENT the technique, but it is still pretty new.

  • An instructor at C3 gym in Washington posted the "rubix cube" four or five years ago. It's under one of the many lockflow.com videos on here. He used it as a sweep out of half guard and into a triangle. The guy who said nothing is new is pretty much right; guys have been scrambling around on the ground in judo for 500 years. I prefer the meat hook anyway, lol. =p

  • @WCLWOLVERINE Here it is.

  • Holy crap, you could pause for a bit, catch your breathe, and have a debate with yourself whether you wan't this win to be TKO or submission! And if you choose the latter, you can have another debate on which submission you think would make you look cooler.

If I ever did this in an MMA fight, I think the ref would stand us back up because i'd take too long thinking how i'm gonna make myself look awesome!

Technique cannot be used by those who take too long to choose how to win.
