Just watched Tokyo Godfathers yesterday, it is a stunningly brilliant film, and I endeavour to watch & buy the rest of Satoshi Kon's films now C:
His storyboards are awe inspiring too, they're more like exact screenshots from the movie than plans for the scenes =o

3:57 nice, those are Yutaka Nakamuras genga.
About the first book, is it practical to add such detail? i mean is it ideal/efficient say if you wana have time to yourself as well as a social life, i myself was considering story boarding but i fear not enjoying life and being healthy/fit especially when having to stay up late hours just to get a board finished. So what do you think?

@Sh3nmu Go do something else with your life then. Because nothing worth having comes easy. Good luck! :-)

@leseant Maybe your misunderstanding my question, just because i don't want to be drawing storyboards for 24hrs a day doesnt mean i lack comitment, let me rephrase the question, say if you were working as a storyboard artist for a company, how deep could this cut into someones time? for example would they still have time for their own indipendent project, or enough free time for a side hobby such as exercising?

@Sh3nmu I understand, clearly now. But my answer is still pretty much the same. It's up to you how detailed your boards need to be. It goes from personal experience, ability, the faith you have in your staff animating from your boards to simply wanting full control of your own vision. All of these things apply only after you've figured out what your vision is. There's no one way around storyboarding and saving time. If you love the work, then you figure a way around it. It's really quite simple
