Can this cause damage? There is a shipping company down the road from me and they have a big rig that makes this seriously loud, rapid, clapping sound. Seems to happen when the guy's upshifting or downshifting, but it is especially loud and lengthy when he's downshifting to get into the yard. I always wonder if something will just blow doing that. Thoughts?

I have an 07 F250 6.0L, my turbo never used to do this until i got the SCT tunner. Is this bad???? I dont know much about diesels.

Wait a minute. My '96 with the 7.3 has never done that. Closest thing to that I've gotten to was when I was gonna be late to a friend's wedding, I hammered it so hard the waste gate was venting while I was still accelerating on the highway. Heck of a noise, but idling at a stand still and doing the same thing won't produce bark. Different design though I guess, as the 7.3 Powerstroke is based of the older International. Anyways, nice vids, keep it up.

Very very good explaination dude im only 18 and i know the same about it and your one of few on here that is smart enough to understand what it actually is. i work for a chrysler dealership in texas and dont know much about powerstrokes but the 6.7 cummins has a vgt do powerstrokes have those as well because i remember you mentioning they dont have wastegates...my 02 cummins does but i know they went to variable geometry turbos sometime in 06 ish i beleive at least in cummins

@blacktopsr20det if im correct i believe the cummins brought the vgt with the 6.7 motor, and im pretty sure the 6.7 came out in 07. the powerstroke doesnt have a wastegate, its controlled by the vgt on the 6.0, 6.4, and 6.7

Get a blow off valve before you explode your compressor wheel.... most people try to not let there turbo surge on purpose 4 times in a row "especially not in a parkin lot"
