  • Have you ever replaced the wires on a motor??

  • @Bkwilless

Yes, we have, but it is a lot detail works due to design of the motor. If we open the motor, we can replace the wire.

  • That is far easier than i thought it would be, thanks for the explanation video!

  • @neptronix

You are welcome! I am glad that you find it useful, and we hope to provide good information to the public.

  • can someone order the gears from your website?

  • @Bkwilless

  • @MarkAW2003 , thank you for the clarification, the replaced gear assemble was came from MAC, not from BMC. We ordered it from BMC, it took more then 9 month to get the part.

  • The "retaining pin" is called a "key". It sits in a "keyway". And yes, don't lose it!

The "lock ring" on a BMC V2/V3 or MAC Shangai motor is a "circlip". It sits in a circlip groove and you need circlip pliers to remove it.

BTW, the improved BMC V2 or V3 freewheel and composite gear assembles fit in a MAC Shanghai motor, which comes with nylon gears (similar to the ones in this video....they strip easily).

  • Morgan:

Thanks for checking out our video and comment. Good point about lock ring, I will overlay the your input onto this video.

  • Nice video. Note that on the 600W (V2) motors, there is a little lock ring that holds the gear cluster onto the axle. If you try to take the gear cluster off without removing the lock ring, you'll bend the heck out of it and make no progress!
