Jeanell Carrigan plays Phillip Wilcher's Bundanon.
About the piece:
The historic property of Bundanon was gifted to the nation by renowned Australian artist Arthur Boyd.
I wrote this piece for his grandson, pianist Alexander Boyd after hearing Alexander in recital in London 2006. I was there to hear Simon Tedeschi play my "Etudes Tedeschi". I wrote a note to Alexander on a scrap of paper asking him if he would like me to compose a piece for him, sent the note backstage. Days later he wrote me he would welcome something from me. This was the result. Alexander himself has performed the piece and it was chosen by five pianists to play in the Southern Highlands International Piano Competition. I hope you enjoy it!
Alexander writes: I feel that Phillip Wilcher's richly evocative piece "Bundanon" perfectly captures the spirit of Bundanon - the tranquility and beauty of the bush surrounding landscape, yet simmering below the surface, an environment teeming with life and renewal."

I especially like how even though it maintains the same rhythm, and flow, it's so contrasting! I really admire your compositions, and you :) Very wonderful piece.
A good story too.
