ya ULSD is required. ive owned mine a few months now, and i guess here in niagara falls, ontario we dont have too many good diesel fueling stations. even husky only has 42 cetane here.. im having massive problems with my engine now... it gets louder when warmed up, kinda the opposite of a diesel

it sounds like a fucking canal boat, even the 'average joe' would know that

Compare the sound of the Volkswagen diesel to that of an old Mercedes. And I've seen quite a few 240Ds still running.

@propanemower13 No, it's a Golf TDI wagon. It's the same as the Jetta Sportwagen, it's just called a Golf Wagon in Canada. It's definitely a diesel engine.

@propanemower13 awesome thank you for the insight sir

it sounds like a tractor from the outside, and i have seen some of these with soot around the tailpipe.

From your description, you most likely saw an older model, not a 2009.

@mpgomatic nah i see 2009 and up with soot too, maybe its the diesel they're using?
i changed my diesel fueling station,(from canadian tire/petro, to husky) and added diesel clean to mine and it got rid of almost all the smoke. injection timing is a bit off so it was smoking ALOT before. but still, i think the fuel has alot to do with it. but im no mechanic
