Really? I think land rovers are quite reliable. I've had experience with both and my 4runner has had a lot more engine and electronics problems. The land rover, on the other hand, is built like a tank. You sure you aren't talking about the older land rovers?

A friend of mine uses them on both axles too. Technically there is no problem with that, it is even better for the mid differential with chains on both axles.
If you get completely cross-axled there is a chance with very thick chains, to touch the inner wheelhouse.

you seem to use snow chains on both axles. The owner's manual expressly prohibits this and advises to only use them on the front axle. Have you encountered any problems because of this?
