Stephanie is a mental health counselor licensed both in New York and Michigan. She has 13 years' postgraduate experience at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where she worked as a therapist and program coordinator at a psychiatric day treatment program. She has provided individual and group therapy to adults and adolescents dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety and personality disorders. In Manhattan, Stephanie maintained a private practice for 4 years, where she worked primarily with young adults coping with issues around self-esteem, relationships, depression and anxiety.
Stephanie earned her MA and Ed. M., in Psychological Counseling at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a form of therapy that aims to help clients cultivate mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and distress tolerance skills. She has lectured master's level students at the City University of New York on the topic of DBT.
Stephanie's current clinical focus is on family, couples and relationship issues. She also helps to faciliate our quarterly PAIRS 'Passage to Intimacy' couples' workshops.
Her goal is to help people live more fulfilling lives, as she believes that within the context of a genuine therapeutic relationship, meaningful changes can occur. Stephanie encourages clients to identify unhelpful patterns and learn effective ways of coping and communicating.
