"No tee shirts on stage..." "Who are you watching?"
Canadian born singer, songwriter Paul Anka first became famous as a teen idol in the late 1950s and 1960s with hits songs like "Diana," "Lonely Boy," and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder." He went on to write such well known music as the theme for "The Tonight Show" Starring Johnny Carson and Tom Jones' biggest hit, "She's A Lady." and the English lyrics for Frank Sinatra's signature song, "My Way."
The phrases from this band meeting, "I slice like a hammer" and "Don't make a maniac out of me" were used by Al Pacino's villainous character Willy Bank in the film Ocean's 13.

'Upset'? 'Playing the music correctly'? Anka isn't genuinely upset, the whole foul mouthed tirade sounds fake as hell. And how hard can the 'Diana' chords be? My guess is Anka resents the bands' height advantage over him. The bass player was 5 foot 2, towering over Paul.
No I really meant it. The nudge was just so you didnt think I was an asshole. No he is very talented and I have no issues with him yelling at his band (to get em to shape up...!).
Great job Style. Anka's ritual humiliation of his band and abuse of authority is beyond grotesque. Forget 'put your head on my shoulder', Anka deserves a fist in the face.
For an act like that common sense should tell you not to wear a fucking T-shirt. He's right to be pissed off. He didn't fire anyone either. He gave them a chance to shape up or ship out.
this is on a volume of a cd series that I had a hand in making one volume this was also discussed on HOWARD STERN with Paul Anka, at that time it happened 15 years before...
