The Washington Capitals defeated the New York Rangers in a nail biting game 7 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on April 28, 2009 at the Verizon Center. The fans were amazing. The decibel level was off the charts. Alexander Semin scored (wrist shot) in the first period to tie the game. Sergei Fedorov scored (wrist shot) the game winning goal in the third period. Varlamov celebrated his 21st birthday a day before standing between the pipes for the Capitals in this crucial and deciding game 7. This was the Caps first ever win in a Game 7 at Verizon Center, and it was just the second Game 7 win in franchise history and the first in 21 years. Bring on the Pens! ROCK THE RED and LET'S GO CAPS!!!!!!!!!!

  • God damn I hope they take down the Rangers again.

  • Lets do this again boys.

  • In my opinion, the Caps gained popularity again when their colors have changed back to the old-school red, white, and blue as well as the old logo being revised for the future. Boudreau, Ovi, and also the newcomers have REALLY changed the team as well. Can't wait for the playoffs.

It was kinda ironic too how once the Caps went back to their red colors, they started doing good again. And quite frankly I'm glad they are doing well because I am a HUGE fan of ovechkin. Coming from a stars fan

  • The noise reminded me of the cup run. But most of all, sitting in the bleachers, it reminded me of the hey-day of RFK. The whole area was rocking, not figuratively, but - physically rocking - and it was crazy loud.

  • @alley00pster Ovechkin definetly helps that. Lol.

  • @xXannihilationXx Well we were just happy to go back to old colors. Going black, copper and all that was a mistake. I could say the same for the Wizards too. I was so glad when we went back to Red. It definitely re energized our fanbase. Our course having a team that wins consistently again helps too.(Something DC teams don't do a lot of sadly).

  • @alley00pster Stupid NHL won't let Al twirl it around anymore. Still is pretty cool. I guess you guys can have rock the red even though the red wings have been around and worn red much much longer than the caps.

  • @xXannihilationXx Sorry Rock the Red is ours. Enjoy your octopus throwing though.

  • @alley00pster Red belongs to the Red Wings.
