  • I have a neighbor that lives up the street he raises moths and gave me a comet moth egg in a cage... I'm gonna raise it.... Although I'm terrified and I feel like I'm gonna pee my pants... Any tips on how to care for a COMET MOTH?! I think that's what it's called

  • It's an egg, or a cocoon? If it's an egg, you'll be raising a caterpillar once it hatches. Find out from your neighbor what kind of plant it will need to eat. Caterpillars need to be kept warm and dry, and supplied with fresh leaves (only certain kinds will work). If it's a cocoon, once it emerges you won't need to much. Moths in the family Saturniidae do not eat as adults, so enjoy it while it lives. It will die of "old age" once it uses-up all its stored energy reserves. :-)

  • I think of moths as mutant butterflies. They honestly disgust me. Here in Colorado, in the summertime these horrible creatures come and take over our garage. Then they get into our house... Anyone know a way to get rid of them? I vacuume them up.

  • That's not surprising - many people are freaked-out by moths (it's known as mottephobia). Fortunately, moths are harmless, although they can be a bit annoying when they fly in your face or around the lights in your house. I just grab them and toss them outside, but the vacuum cleaner is a good method to remove them without having the touch them. Interestingly, I think butterflies evolved from moths, which would make butterflies mutant moths XD

  • @jcmegabyte

There's actually a word for that phobia? :)

  • Doctors definitely needed to name this one - probably because SO many people have it =)
