My copy has arrived at last.
Now I can start making cool videos.

(I would have had this up a few days ago, but I was having problems uploading...)

Here is the fourth edition in my "[insert game name] - Beginning" series!

The series so far:
1: Tales of the Abyss - Beginning*
2: Tales of Rebirth - Beginning
3: Tales of Destiny (JP) - Beginning
4: Tales of Destiny (PS2) - Beginning

*there was no English version out at the time so it's not marked JP, but it's the JP version.

This time I'm doing the beginning video in hard mode, it's more fun that way.

This is the first hour and fifteen minutes of gameplay, it includes:
The Title Screen
Opening Movie (which is viewed a bit into the game)
An Anime Cutscene
Battles
Skits
Dialog
And several main characters.

This video covers everything upto the arrival in Janos, I'll probably make a rescue Rutee video next.

Enjoy!
Boss videos coming soon!
(PS1 fans, don't worry, I'll keep recording gameplay from that version too)

  • i hate how namco's been a bitch and stopped translating, i cant play tales of hearts or tales of innocence like this...

  • @EXHellfire Namco might not be making enough money on the Tales of games in North America to afford to be able to translate more of them, I know that's why they stopped doing the 2D sprite ones, Destiny (PS1) and Eternia both sold poorly in North America and they haven't brought over another 2D sprite one since, with the exception of Phantasia GBA, but Nintendo paid for that one, not Namco.

There is a fan-translation patch available for Innocence now though, you should check it out.

  • @Jeffrey6978 i couldnt make the english innocence work T_T

  • @EXHellfire Well, I've never used the patch myself, so I don't know what to tell you.

Maybe try asking for help in the Absolute Zero forums?

  • What an improvement, the enemys aren't such ridiculous weaklings as in the PS1 version, the gamepley is much smoother and everything we always get the inferior verions to play (Look at the awesome Tales of Phantasia X version for Japan ...), or this ... So we can state, Japan gets all great stuff, America gets few stuff and not even in the best versions and Europe .... the only thing we got that America didn't get was Tales of Eternia PSP, but America had it for PS1 ....

  • @Jeffrey6978 i dont really know, the one i really want to play is Tales of Hearts

  • wow, u got ur ps1 vs. for 30$??? i got my ps2 remake(not dc) for 32$ including shipping

  • It's pretty much like most Tales of games these days, you can do it from the menu or in battle.

Use triangle to open the menu, go down to your characters, press triangle on one, then move them wherever you want, then push circle when you have them where you want.

In battle, bring up the menu, and use R1 (if I remember correctly) to switch through the characters.

You don't need any item for it.

  • How do u.. switch characters, can u Do it in battle as well?

Do u need an item to switch characters at the beginning of game when u get Woodrow/Garr?

Is it like go to menu (how do u do that too.) and press X(Circle i guess actually) and drag to top?

  • Only Game with INTERACTIVE SKITS!
