That "unusual F barre chord" is an Fmaj7/C pronounced "F major 7th over C". 1,3,5, and 7th notes of the F scale, which are F A C and E. You say "over C" because thats the note that is the first in the chord, rather than F itself (the root). :)

@vikou13 i noticed the same thing. i think it sounds better that way too because of the hammer on on the C. it evens out the strumming n makes it a lil easier to play

What guitar do you use? And great lesson. You seem to really research the songs before you do the lesson. They all come out great.
