how can I begin and end a row with bp & fp sc?

That is a good question. I would imagine that you would ch 1 at the beginning and work the stitch around the base as normal. Then just continue on to the end of the row and do the same. To keep the stitch from sliding around to the top at the beginning and end of the row, you could work the stitch around only the front two or the back two strands of the base. You can always experiment and see what method you like best. Hope that helps. :)
