The language used in baking recipes can sometimes be vague and unclear. Grease your pan. Why? Prepare your pan. How? What do you use? Butter, a pastry brush and a touch of flour... works every time!

  • Wow, that was simple. Doing that properly was stumping this guy, so props to you!

  • ok =/ im gonna try this in a bit, i dont have that "paper stuff" so ill try this method out and let viewers know... (gotta make a three layer cake ..bet dont ask)

  • I realise you probably won't read a comment on a two year old video, but I just wanted to say thanks; my girlfriend set me the task of making brownies while she's out and I was completely lost at the first step.

  • I mean, could you also use some salt to rub it on the pan?

  • thanks for posting this up! I used to just pour vegetable oil into the pan bottom and that would be it.

  • Sometimes it best to grease or butter the pan and then line with parchment paper and grease/butter the paper and add a little flour on the paper as well.
