Long Lining Lesson, 08/20/07

This video is really a series of short clips. My aunt gave Jen and me an impromptu long-lining lesson with her Oldenburg gelding, Ziggy. I felt like I never did anything with a horse before--and I kind of looked like it, too! I started to get a feel for it towards the end. Ziggy was very patient with me. We did cut it short because at the end you can see he got kind of stiff at the trot--my aunt said that he had his shoes pulled recently, and we obviously stopped because we didn't want to hurt him. Though it was a short lesson, it was very informative and gave us an idea of how to get started.

you did good for your first time... soo lucky that you had an experienced horse to start off with ahaaa, it was really cool how she got him to do like a figure 8 at the start

Thanks! My aunt and her horse were fortunately very patient, and the skill proved very important in rehabbing my mare and getting her ready to be reintroduced to under saddle work.
