Feather instead of gaussian blur. Interesting.

@BouncingFerretFilms gaussian blur the outer layers of the saber and make the bottom layer 100 percent opaque. make the bottom layer white and upper layers the color u want for the saber. i didnt watch this video because i know how to make the saber in final cut so idk if what i just said is even relevent to this video.

@GuidoRox not in the old motion 2. in more recent versions absolutely u can.

@Slifer2904 only mac for final cut and motion. but for windows u got adobe after effects which is a great program. u also got premiere

@erett2000 this can be done in only final cut also. simple keyframing.

as awesome as motion and final cut are, i think that for this, after effects is much more simple. in fact, you could probably do this just in premiere without even using after effects using the lightning effect.
