has anyone had the problem where you click on the song you want your ipod to play, but instead of the song you want, it just skips to the next song?

I had the problem and reseting it fixed the issue.
I did that with mine, and I didn't notice any difference in frequency. I took it to an Apple store and they gave me a new one. If you're within your year of coverage, try that. The new one I got still did it, but not nearly as often. I was getting it at least once a day when I took mine into the store.

I think I figured out an easier way to fix this than restarting. When the iPod won't actually play, go into sleep mode. Then wake it up and try. It's worked for each time I've tried it (only twice, but it hasn't not worked yet)

Make your iPod go to sleep (go to the main menu and click Sleep. If it isn't there, go to Settings and then Main Menu, and check it.
Once you put it to sleep, wake it right back up. And it will play normally again. This is faster than restarting the ipod.

i feel your pain. my ipod has the same problem. did you ever fix it? if so, how?

Nope, never got it fixed. I sent it to Apple, and they sent it back saying it was fine. Then I took it to an Apple Store, and did what they said, and it didn't change. Then I took it back again, and they replaced it with a new (refurbished) iPod. Not bad.
Except it does the same thing... not as often, but still. I guess it's just a bug in the iPod firmware. It seems to be related somehow to when my iPod goes into sleep mode after not being used for a while.
