Philippine folk dances.
Tacon Taking an old dance from the Maria Clara suite , the choreographers created a dance which emphasizes stomping of the feet.
Subli comes from the word subsub meaning to stoop from the Rural suite.
Blend 32 performs at Miller Outdoor Theater for Asian American Festival in Houston.

  • isn't the first dance actually called baston?

  • I've also seen it called Tacon because of the emphasis on the stomping of the feet.

  • Yeah, the music is La Gallina Ciega. Hmm.

  • i know the music for the first maria clara dance is called galina ciega....meaning blind chicken, popular in the 1800's in manila, a playful game where the women danced around a man who is blind folded and playing a guitar. No stomping of the feet in the dance tho....
