To sing this song I had to convince myself that for 3 minutes I could handle sitting at a bar alone smoking a cigarette and feeling like I was as cool as Sinatra. It's the most incredible saloon song ever written and taps into the feelings of a love affair gone bad brilliantly -- something which Sinatra knew a lot about and wasn't afraid to reveal.

From the nationally televised Public Television Special, "My Sinatra: The Songs and the Stories starring Cary Hoffman" -- as seen on 35 public television stations around the country. Produced by Al Tapper ("Broadway: The Golden Age") and Jon Small (Garth Brooks, Elton John and Billy Joel)
I've been obsessed with Sinatra for 60 years. This tribute is one of the best: the singer is very good, follows the Sinatra timing and phrasing with the expertise of a man who has listened obsessively to the original. As someone else said here, the piano player is outstanding - actually, by not being outstanding but (like Bill Miller) by giving a gentle backing to the singer. In short, I would rather listen to this live version than to Frank's original recording on Only the Lonely. Well done!

I don't agree with the last comment. I did like it!...and while I do believe no one can really touch the Sinatra version...you were definitely in the same ballpark. I think your rendition is much better than Robbie Williams' version.
If you have the time... I would be interested in your opinion on my take of this song...check it out.
