It makes no difference whether the owner called her friend or her friend just came to visit. The owner of a pet is always responsible for it's behavior and must assure that it is safe. A dog that bites a child "because the kid teased it" is still a dog that bites a child. In almost all cases dogs can be trained to behave regardless of circumstances. But animals like chimps and tigers can never be trained to trustworthiness. Owners of such animals take on a huge liability risk.

I see your point but Charla thought she could trust her friend knowing that she could keep her chimp in control but obviously she can't...
Charla did not know that such an awful thing would happen by just going to help her friend that she's known for awhile...

@VirginOfRape ..........its the womans fault ,its all there faults!!!...u dont mess with wild animals!!.....if sum1 was stabbin a knife in me and wacking me with a shovel i'd wanna kill them aswell!

@black352 Perhaps, NO one should try to tame wild animals. Suffice dogs who can also bite but very often it's not as bad as this. A chimp can grow to a big huge animal and it's like having Mike tyson angry in your own living room! l0l

fucking chimp trying to be like ceaser

@black352 so true...that's why | don't understand why it is even legal to own and raise wild animals in your home. Ticking time bombs! It's never safe. It never was and never will be....

@aargh5 But yet her friend called her over to contain the chimp. So it's the owners fault. And yes the victim is eligible to the money because if she went to visit and got attacked by the chimp while visitation then it wouldnt have been the owners fault. BUT, she got a phone call from the owner to come and contain her chimp. Total different story.

no that isnt true.
The owner have to know his animal.
Imagine, you met me with my dog and you will stroke him.
First you asking me if its okay.
When i say its okay and you stroke it,is it my fault when he attacks you, because i said to you its okay!!
Other thought:
my dog attacks you, bites your lips eyes and ears away and i cant pull him away or kick him what ever, because i love him too much, who is the idiot?

@aargh5 The problem here is that most people don't know that adult chimp is dangerous as tigers.Their upper body have 5 times strength as human adult, they can easily rip your arms off. So owner should have kept him in a cage or chained him. And there is also the state's responsibility not to have laws to keep these animals caged or chained.
this is what happens when you own wild animals and dont have the proper training and skills to do so

If i have a friend and I go visit his house and I KNOW he have a tiger in his backyard and I go to the backyard to see the tiger with my friend and I get attacked by the tiger, then its my own fault. I have no right to sue my friend because I was not forced to visit the tiger, I have to take some responsibility myself.
Now, I don't know exactly what happened in this case, but my guess is that its something similar which happened here. I don't think the victim should get any money.
