NORTH IS STATES BEST BAND AGAIN
Waukesha West 2nd as local schools dominate. Waukesha North won the Wisconsin School Music Association State Marching Band competition for the second consecutive year on Saturday, totaling 92.05 points to Waukesha West High Schools 90.95 points, said Steve Fisher, North music teacher.
wsma is rigged north wasn't as close to as good as some of the other bands there. they had the orders picked before schools even started playing. at 8 52 it was posted on jsonline that Sussex received 4th place and they were only 2 minutes into their show.

SCV is indeed exciting and they do have a great cymbal line. Did they win? The corps took 5th and their percussion took 6th. Granted I wanted them to beat Cavaliers because I liked there show this year but that is a conversation for a different time. Regardless, the point is cymbal lines don't suddenly make a drumline great of legit or anything nor do they suddenly add GE. Because we decided to keep 3 members playing a different instrument then marching cymbal is our choice,

So you are telling my Repertoire and Composition have nothing to do with difficulty. Clearly with the easy and boring show North has they should be very low in those categories...
Each section had a little soli and then they came together and had a a short feature. You may have had an elaborate solo on a weaker year and I applaud your ambition. How clean was it though? Judges award points for perfection. Because the book was easy, less points possible but they were awarded most of them.

All drumlines have weak years; my line was very young last year. But we still had a drumbreak where the whole line played together at the same time. Each section kinda played a little soli thing in yours, but it wasn't a true drum solo. You can't just not have a drum feature due to a weak year. And you guys did make your show clean and solid...by writing an easy book. And about cymbal lines, SCV is one of the most exciting corps out there, and they have the most intense cymbal line out there.

Hey, guess what dominator? I just went and looked up the adjudication forms, and it doesn't talk about difficulty. variety and creativity, yes, but that can be done with easy music. IT SAYS NOTHING ABOUT DIFFICULTY. look it up. YOU'RE WRONG. I did back myself up with the REAL wsma forms.

Alright EmoElliott88, let me give you the readers digest version of WSMA judging:
Each caption (visual, music, etc.) has two boxes. The top box is show design. This includes difficulty as well as coordination of elements. The bottom box is execution. This is how well the band performs the book.
So a large part of the score (roughly half) is based on difficulty. I would appreciate it if you wouldn't criticize without a factual argument to back it up.

Um yes there was a drum feature albeit it wasn't too long. We had a very young line that year so the main concentration was making all of the drum show solid and clean so we could build upon it the next year. How many finalist drum corps use cymbal lines? One. How many BOA finalists use cymbals lines? I don't know but would imagine not many. Ever band in AAAA stepped it up this year.

Ok.....why do you zoom up on your front ensemble so you can look at their poor technique? Your drumline may have played the crap out of your book musically, but it was probably the easiest high school book i've heard. I'm waiting for WSMA to judge by difficulty as well, because if that would be put into the mix of judging you guys would find yourself in much more trouble. I was happy to see this year you at least had a drum feature this year, but it is still way easy...CHALLENGE YOURSELVES!!!

Although they aren't the best band I woulod have to say that the difficulty of their show puts them right up there with everyone else.
