  • ok thanks i will keep that in mind. i think im using more of a conditioning tool rather than strength, even though its a good exercise for both. i will try max out some days jus c how much i can do. u guys do much deadlifting or weighted chins etc? would like to see wat kind of program u on?

  • Well you can go heavier an still use it as a conditioning tool, its jus when the weight is too light your core wont get engaged as much because you will naturally rely on your shoulder strength, and ya we do a lot of weighted pull ups, and if you want to know our program just email me

  • ok thanks il try that. On tgu do u also reverse the movement and go down as well or jus up? wat do u think is the benefit from max effort tgu? i do MMA and found that 10reps in a row each arm with 20kg has done good things for core strength and grappling

  • I always go back down when doing a tgu unless im maxing. And I think the max amount of reps you should do is 4-6 each arm, if your able to do 10 reps on each arm in one set then the weight is too light. When using heavier weight you are forced to put more emphasis on stacking your joints and using good form. You dont want to use a weight you can just muscle up. The benefit of a max effort tgu in my experience is that the weight is so heavy your form has to be flawless or you'll end up dumping it

  • u find that ur get ups help ur benching? if so wat u think the bench is of a person who do a get up with 135?

  • Actually I feel like its the other way around, a strong bench will help in the first few movements of a tgu, i do alternate dumbell chest press with one arm pressing and one isometrically holding the weight, thus helping to increase your max effort tgu

  • So dope dude. Have you ever missed a TGU attempt badly? I was doing 125lbs before I had an accident and had the bar sprain my wrist. I get too scared to focus now every time I get close to 115. Any advice. Should I just cut out the descent portion of the lift for maxing (it's how I hurt myself the first time)?

  • I like how you niggas train much respect.
