This is a tasting of my Cooper's Wheat beer, which I have never tried before. Then I talk about the four major ways of making home brew. I just want to try and clear up the terminaligy, and give you the ability to choose which way you want to start and progress in your beer making. You can't let someone tell you which way is right or wrong. The different procedures are out there for you to explore. This is an unbiased look at all of them, from pre-hopped extract to all grain. The choice is yours to make, and no one else's. Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do.

  • Hi Craig, How does this beer compare to a bottle of Blue Moon?

  • @CFHpantera Can't really say, since I've never had that beer. :)

  • @CFHpantera ANY body ever worrie about under aged kids brewing?

  • @cber8860 I don't think most home brew shops are going to sell a beer kit to a minor, but I'm sure they don't ask for ID, so a teen might get away with it. In Canada, a minor can't buy a pack of smokes. However, any kid can go into a supermarket and buy fruit juice, yeast, and sugar. That, I DO worry about, but all I can do is disclaim that I do not condone under age drinking, and parents need to monitor what their kids are doing, just like they should monitor their on-line activities.

  • Ignore all the hate, Craig. You do what you love, in the way you want. Hopefully I will get my first Brew Kit in the following week, and I can do what you inspired me to do. Thanks!

  • damn, Craig. You are a wonderful human being my friend.. Thanks for kicking ass and being you. And, you know, I think you might be at least partially made of wheat, because you're always very refreshing.. ha ha.. cheers, man :)

  • hi craig i like the way you say " hobbie"i started on kits just for the sake of a cheaper brew and and the easiness of kits was a bonus, after a year of brewing i started to build a allgrain system that took a few months, and now i do all grain,,i dont think ill ever go back to kits as iv entered the dark side :) and got most of the equipment and love the beers i make.keep the videos rolling to push others in making home-brewed beer its great, happy brewing

  • I'd say mini mash and all grain are the same - just a difference of scale - they both require a knowledge of starch conversion in a mash and proper lautering/sparging. A 2 gallon batch of all grain is going to be the same as a 5 gallon batch is going to be the same as 10 gallon etc. Extract is extract, even if you are simply steeping a few grains for color (you are not getting fermentables from it).

  • Hi Craig, just wondering can you use malt extract with a normal beer making kit ?

  • Yeah, from what I've seen and read the Mr. Beer users are satisfied with what they brew. One of the things Mr. Beer should have done was to have a proper air lock instead of that "special" lid. I originally was going to go with Mr. Beer starting out, the kits here are only 40 USD, but decided to get a kit from my local brewing supply store and be able to use still when I grow into other types of brewing.

  • @CraigTube craig i have returened to home brew after a long break and controversy with family over a teengetting into the beer and getting very pukey yeah get the idea well i need your advice again for my next batch what shood i do i wanna easy quick fermint quick age and no worry so much about sediments so what do u suguest

  • I made this kit but it cleared very nicely after 2 weeks in the bottle. Tasty beer from a great kit!

  • Craig, how would you go about adding a cherry flavor to this wheat beer??

  • craig, you should check out the Mr.Beer forum. There are a lot of happy brewers on there.

  • Way to go Craig! Thanks for the great post! I got into home brewing with the great help from you and other home brewers out there! Cheers!

Don't worry about that other stuff, they barely get 10% of the views you do!

  • Hey, where do you get your canned god? I've been looking everywhere...
