To separate the bottom ring from the mouse you can use a hot hair drier to help pry it out.

Been using my wireless mouse for about 1,5 year. Just last month the scroll ball have been acting weird. Never thought it could dirt or gunk inside. Being a student, there really isn't much money for new stuff. So thanks man!

Thanks for posting that. My girlfriend has the same issue. I am well used to taking these sorts of things apart due to my job but this has taken the mystery out of it. Much appreciated, really.. ;)

ok when i tried reconnecting the cables i had two unsuccessful attempts then the tract ball connector SNAPED and now i have no secondary click and no working trackball

Thanks a lot. This was a great help for me. Just one comment: removing the gray frame from the bottom wasn't as easy as shown in the video.
