Clouds and stars dancing above the magnificent moonlit landscape of Tenerife, and the Teide volcano. Notice the lenticular clouds formed by the uplift of the Teide, staying at the exact same position for hours.

  • Is the observatory open to the public? I will be going to Tenerife for a week in October this year and would love to spend an evening up there

  • @neil73 hi, unluckily it is not open to the public (I think there is one day when you can go for a visit during the day, but it is never possible during the night). But the National Park and the whole area around the Teide is always open, so you can just drive up to somewhere and enjoy the night sky :)

  • @papics Thanks for your quick reply! Ive just had a look at their website and you are right or course. I doubt the people I'm going on holiday with would be interested anyway, but I may hire a car for a day for a drive up
