This is the first video of my new series, "How I Would Make It". Each week, I'll be taking a look at various movies, TV shows, video games, etc, in oder to point out how I would have changed the stories involved to help them achieve their full potential...according to me

  • That was pretty good. I agree with what you said here, both very good points. I of course would have actually included the Klingons in the final draft of the film so that Nero didn't just wait around for 25 years not doing anything. But hey, it's all too late.

Oddly enough, the sound from the camera was much better than your microphone stuff. I would also avoid the random jump cuts, as they are distracting. Try to get everything in one take in between clips or pictures. Other than that, Great!

  • As a first episode, you have made a very well made video (if that made any sence). The critiques I have are things that you don't really know about until you make a first video. Namely the sound levels changing between the computer-cam moments, the voice over moments, and the footage. Also, rooms tend to echo, especially if you talk loud enough to be sure to be picked up by a mic. Not that the echo is bad, but it sounds like you switched to a head-mic for the voice-over.

  • Shiny! I like your stories and humor; my nitpicks are purely technical. It seems like you're using two different methods of recording, so you wind up with an echo on your video sequences but a very nice sound when showing your movie clips. Again, sound levels, and maybe a few more audio clips from the movie for those of us who haven't watched it in three years to refresh our memory.

I eagerly await a Doctor Who or Sherlock episode. :)

  • My first thought on this: for a first video, this is incredibly polished. I'm amazed. Your humor is straight on, your video camera's not too bad, and your voice is clear. The topic was enjoyable and it has a niche. Congratulations: you've made a subscriber out of me!

A few critiques: your editing rough. Voiceovers were cut off in places and images didn't come up. The voice was great, but the sound was uneven; you might see about getting tips to smooth it out. Overall, though, A-! Practice! :)

  • Good video and a good solution to the dilemma, especially if Spock Prime could have influenced Kirk through the mind meld.
