Oops, duh. I seem to have switched the names around. I was thinking Ridley Scott when I included his successor film, Bladerunner. But my fingers typed Alien. Ha. Old age is a wonderfully convenient excuse!
I expect that it is a masterpiece science fiction thriller. It was directed by James Cameron, and had a star studded cast. Superb acting, and not shabby special effects. It was considered ahead of its time, just like Bladerunner was in the 80s.

I was friends with Veronica Cartwright some years ago and I got the story on this scene. They knew he was going to die and how but that was basically it. Everything they do once he starts convulsing was improved. They also didn't tell Veronica they were going to blast her with a hose full of fake blood. That scream and fall were all very real.
Well yeah of course it wasn't planned. One thing a lot of people don't know about the famous chest burst scene is that the director purposely did not tell most of the actors that a thing was gonna pop out of his chest. He believed it would look more realistic, and dammit he was right!!!

Hilarious if someone at the end was like: "....so who's cleanup?"
That would be the biggest mistake they ever made.
