The brain is the focus of this fascinating portion of our journey as Dr. Sagan examines another of the intelligent creatures with whom we share the planet Earth — whales.

Then we wind through the maze of the human brain to witness the architecture of thought. We see how genes, brains and books store the information necessary for human survival.

  • *shaking fist in the air* MAN!

  • I can speak whale! heeeeeaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Humans, in their infinite stupidity, seem to think they're the only species that count on this planet.

  • 'maybe it's a love song cast into the vastness of the deep.'

    carl sagan is the greatest.

  • *laughs* Dr. Sagan speaking "whale". Now I've seen everything! :)

What's even more amazing is that the whales actually mark the calender months in the way Dr. Sagan demontrated! They must get tired at around Christmas time. HA! ;p

I also like the way The Flight Of The Vaklyries ties into the frolicking whales. :)

If a simple sailboat motor causes that much "noise pollution" to the shales, imagine a whole fleet of US Navy submarines. :/

  • @ExaltedLeader How about YOU get a CLUE and maybe BROADER PERSPECTIVE, because neither your family nor your country will matter in a devastated world.

  • we're the monsters we basically suck the life out of this planet ,as if it just belongs to humans the damage we have done is sickening.
