Question to any Beefheart fans: there's a version of this track on the compilation "Gimme Dat Harp Boy" Roots of the Captain that's 4'07" long. Does anybody know if this version contains any melodies/riffs that aren't present in the 3 minute track?

well, i have a rare recording of flaming autograph, it's from the puller man bootleg. it was recorded live somewhere in california in 1972. it's 3'55". the melody is the same, though riffs are slightly varied, or "warped" in a nice beefheartian way, but not very different. sorry, i don't know anything about that compilation.
tnx for posting this, it's surely a great bootleg! very nice paintings!

What, they played it LIVE?! Hot damn, I need to look for that one. Thanks for the info! Even though it may not differ too much from this recording, it would be nice to hear how it sounded on stage.

Thanks man, I hope he's still painting and writing. Too bad he doesn't write music any more...
