Rachel Harrington & Rod Clements perform Karen Kane and Up The River live at the Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell, London EC1 on Monday 9 August 2010.

Raised in Oregon, but currently based in Seattle, Rachel is accompanied on this extensive tour by the legendary Rod Clements.

Rod is probably still best known to many as the composer of folk-rock legends Lindisfarne's breakthrough hit single Meet Me On The Corner, a beautifully stripped down version of which was performed at this show.

Rachel Harrington has released two critically acclaimed albums, The Bootlegger's Daughter (2007) and City of Refuge (2008). A third full length album is due for release in 2010.

This video includes one song from each of Rachel's albums. Karen Kane can be found on City of Refuge; Up The River (Laura Veirs cover) is included on The Bootlegger's Daughter.

SeeGigFilmGigPost would like to highly recommend City of Refuge. Rachel is very cool indeed. If you are one of my Mumford and Sons loving subscribers, I urge you give this a listen. There is much to enjoy in Rachel's old school Americana -- described on her website as 'Roots of the American West'; evocative storytelling songs and more than a smattering of fabulous banjo action! Check out Rachel's website for music samples etc (link below).

Rachel Harrington & Rod Clements extensive UK tour continues until 1 October and is followed by selected European dates. The UK tour will include shows in Bath, Bristol, Bournemouth, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Nottingham, Rotherham and Penzance. The Scottish tour also visits a couple of the islands -- including a show at the Bruichladdich Distillery on the Isle of Islay!
