Part 3 of the "Divining Rod: Illumination and the Twilight Zone Experience," a 55 minute analysis/appreciation of Rod Serling's brilliant creation. In Part 3, we look at the opening sequences over the Twilight Zone's five year run because they offer the most succinct statements of what the Twilight Zone means as a concept and experience. They hypnotically transform the viewer and initiate the process of shifting his or her reality from normality (sleep) to the infinitely wondrous (awakened). We learn that Serling means to use the Imagination as a place where this ambiguous doubling, merging, and overlapping of realities happens, and as a conduit through which the finite and everyday merges with the eternal and infinite.
Wow @ luminous clouds lit from beneath, never would have made that connection. Very eloquently put in regards to the 'scary door' opening being a juxtaposition of the benign familiarity of the average suburban landscape and a portal into a vast dimension of possibilities. This is really an amazing analysis, I am such a humongous twilight zone fan.. I bought the dvd set a few years ago and basically treat it like a video bible lol.

Making me appreciate The Twilight Zone even more than I already had was surely a trip into my own imagination I thought not possible. This is simply amazing in its own right.
