Weiss, along with many other believers, inspires me to be more like Christ. His humility really shows me how prideful and selfish I AM, I just want to live better. He is a prime example that God is alive and active in the world.

@TheKenTerry I understand why you would hold that belief. In the Scriptures, the "persecution" is set in a future tense in that one day, all genuine believers will face incredible, harsh times. Living in America as a believer it's quite rare to be "persecuted." However, I totally agree with your opinion because I know of many believers that force their faith on non-believers, receive criticism, then use the Scripture of "persecution" as their scapegoat.

If there remain so little people like Aaron Weiss (which is to say like Christ) the Church will either fall or become an empire.
-
@HeliWolf420 It sounds like you are drawn to the things that Aaron says and embodies. :) That is wonderful.

Nobody hates somebody for believing in Christianity, I just want to say that as an atheist. I love this man, but I always get angry when christians say they are persecuted...I mean shoot, there are still 8 states that won't allow and atheist to run for public office because you have to believe in a God. Anyway, enough of that, I came here to say I love Aaron.

he's kind of a modern day beat poet. he could write a book and everyone with a working brain would buy it. it would be my favorite book.

Aaron Weiss makes me wish I could believe in God.

This is what religion should look like. Well done, Mr Weiss.

@FreshNapp I read he was raised a Sufist but didn't really stick with it (but, revisited some of those themes in the new album). My impression from his lyrics, esp. those in Foxes & Brother Sister, was that he was a Christian (see for example Carousels, where he says, with reference to Christ, "if I didn't have You as my guide I'd still wonder, lost in Sinai"
However, in one of his interviews he implicitly affirms universalism (which, though unorthodox, is still a form of Christianity)

@FreshNapp That's not really anyone's place to judge.

I am not even remotely Christian, but listening to Mr.Weiss and Mewithoutyou gave me so much respect for religion as a whole. Given the damage that misdirected faith and any sort of invasive spiritual extremism can and has caused, people like Aaron Weiss should serve as an example of what real, humble, and constructive spirituality should be like.
