Green Hearts was an engagement programme aimed at young people (7-11 years) developed between Tees Valley Arts, Tees Forest and Tees Valley Wildlife Trust in 2007. The aim of Green Hearts was to enhance understanding of local natural heritage by developing ongoing resources and to increase access to wildlife sites through eco/arts activities and the creative interpretation of those sites by schools and their local communities.
Five Tees Valley Schools worked on the project - Park End Primary, Middlesbrough; Lockwood Primary, Preston Primary, Eaglescliffe, Ormesby Primary and Whinfield Primary Darlington. The artists the schools worked with were visual artists Andy Broderick and Dani Mitchell, writers Bob Beagrie and Andy Willoughby and musician Craig Vear.
