  • It really does not have to fast as all it does is handle serverving data. Large capacity and to be able to hol allot of drives is impoertanr for expansion. Of you need to run windows home server operating system.

  • It is basically a standard PC that is running a server OS. In this case it is Windows Home Server.

  • 850 watts is enough for 7 drives ( maybe more but i see 7)

  • @McgregorKLB they dont draw that much power. :D and its older pcie 16 powered probably. so its not bad. but he could use the video chipset.

  • Remove the GPU so it draws less energy, and use RDP if needed.

  • Nice but for a server i wouldnt use a gpu that needs a activ cooler. it sucks to much power

  • We got the same CPU cooler ;D

  • I hope you're hosting more on these than just files! too much horsepower to waste

  • I'm pretty sure that 850W PSU is overkill but i'll just assume you had it lying around, unused.

  • What OS do your HTPCs run?

  • @TheTazzyT the psu's depends on what type of system some can't be repleasd with the system running some can. this is to scheduele douwntime

  • @megaman83ful the difference between a real server and a desktop is ecc memory, redundant power supplies, multiple ethernet ports and excellent cooling systems. ecc memory is just special ram that corrects errors without needing a restart hence less downtime. redundant power supplies are just power supplies that are capable of being changed without downtime.
