@nycvia83 That is seriously--word-for-word--how I interpret that look. It is so great. It's the face of "best friends", and "understanding". I focus so hard on it every time I watch this movie ;)

In the film I always think Frodo must think to be in Heaven when he sees Gandalf who he believed to be dead, but more so when Legolas comes in. The elf seemed as a real angel to me. (and not only then)

when frodo sees sam in the end, the look on his face clearly shows they're special relationship: they are the only ones able to know what they've been through, all the hardships and stuff... even if the others have been through battles and difficults moments, bearing the ring was really another task and Sam has shared this burden with Frodo. No one else can understand the weight of this mission better than him.
