GARY LUCAS: LIVE @ THE VERA, GRONINGEN HOLLAND 5/23/90
Recorded on his first Dutch solo tour live at the famous North Holland club, on a bill that found a very green Ween opening for the legendary guitarist, here Gary Lucas plays most of his 1990 solo repertoire in the sweaty environs of The Vera, on a very hot night indeed!
In part 8 for an encore, Gary plays "Comicosmics", his version of Hoagy Carmichael's keyboard tour de force "Cosmics". For his second encore Gary plays Captain Beefheart's "Evening Bell", followed by a medley of Beefheart's "Suction Prints", Coltrane's "Afro Blue", and Pink Floyd's "Astronomy Domine."
In 1990 I saw Gary Lucas perform at the KORZO-theater in Den Haag (The Hague). Great to see him perform in your video!
