Having trouble with gtkRecordMyDesktop? You're not alone. That's why I haven't updated in ages. But I just found a potential workaround. If your bug is like the ones demoed in this video, hopefully this will fix it.

Note: In the video, I say that Monitors is under the Administration panel. It's under preferences. Oops.

  • I had the same problem and I just checked zero compression and full images pro frame (I hope this is calling so in english because I got the german version). This did help me but now I can't record sound :-D

    I will try now your method.

  • i had this problem, to get around it i just selected the area i wanted to record on the recordmydesktop main window and it fixed the tearing. going to try this out.

  • thanks that was a great tip. i use recordmy desktop and sometimes it does tear.
