The Sydney University Madrigal Society performs "The silver swan" by English composer Orlando Gibbons (1583-1625). This recording is of the society's June 2008 concert, "Sogno Transalpino", performed at the University of Sydney Holme Building Refectory. The choir is conducted by Edward Terry.

  • please sing in tune.

  • remember: enunciate, articulate. diction comes from the tip of the tounge and lips. utilize it.

  • weak performance. altos need to use the dynamics, sopranos need to all have the same Ah vowel mouth shape, not Ah and Eh mixed.

beginning to middle the choir had a ritard for no reason, possibly because they were just lagging...they began singing on the half beat of the tempo.

gibbons pieces require strong dictation, as a matter of fact all classical pieces do.

also, sopranos were approximately 50% flat.

  • next time try to do it without the words, it isn't a hard song to remember

  • Another weak preformance of this song

Again a conductor who has no clue how this songs suposed te be done.

Diction problems, almost stopping at certain moments, wrong tempo etc.
