  • This is not a dance form from any "arabian" country. This is very clearly derived from traditional Thai (previously Siam) dance style as are the outfits. I think this is lovely and the choreographer did a much better job maintaining the lines and feel of the Thai dance style than any previous "arabian" adaptation I've seen! I just hope they changed the title in the program so as not to promote cultural misconception.

  • Wow, that's not arabian by any means, I agree with asarie4. BUT still really good!

  • This could be a great piece. Thanks for the effort Mr.Grigorovich

  • @asarie4 They are obviously not going to change the title of a part of The Nutcracker and you are a nut for suggesting it.

  • i like how everyone's complaining about the origin of the choreo, but I've seen arabian and india interchangeably used on several programs. being the only indian soloist, i got stuck with this most painful solo of all time pretty much every year. anyway, this is dope. the style here is actually quite similar to a lot of the arabian/indian i've done- flex foot, pull-backs, hops... but there is def some weird stuff I've never seen before, which looks a bit like modern to me at times. $0.02

  • Шедевр. A masterpiece

  • даже ладони держать не умеют.

  • the best choreography i have seen for this dance - brilliant to see it on you tube again

  • Their costume doesn't look like Arabian. It seems like Thai or Cambodian one to me.

  • Thank you so much for the post. I originally saw it as a child while visiting my grandparents in NYC. I've been looking for a video of this dance ever since. The quintessential interpretation of this dance.
