This is my tribute to Sonny boy Williamson 2 a.k.a. Alex Rice Miller - a master of the bluesharp and legendary bluesman who played with or was backed up by the most famous blues musicians from the 30's to the 60's including Robert Johnson, Howling Wolf, Tampa Red, Robert Junior Lockwood, Muddy Waters, Otis Spann, Willie Dixon, Eric Clapton, The Animals.
He was the main influence on Jimmy Reed's bluesharp style and Reed recorded in 1966 a tribute to Sonny boy one year after Williamson's death.
This tribute is similar to my Jimmy Reed tribute - an animated short with new recorded music - and I don't want to emulate the sound of these musicians but want to honor the men and their music. It would make me happy to bring you a little joy into your everyday life and if it would make some of you curious to listen to the original stars or even lesser known contemporaries from the 20's to 60's it would be fantastic.
Thank you

But this month July 2010 I opened a new channel for my german music and I will upload some of it this month.

    bye

  • this is the real sonny boy. forget that garbage sounding john lee williamson from the 40s. his recording are forgettable. this the man

  • @rorygg1

I think both Sonny Boys are great and were very influential players, singers & composers. Both were great accompainist, too.Don't forget BIG JOE WILLIAMS' recordings from the 30's&40's. John Lee W. died very young and would have surely developed & modernized his style.Would have been interesting to hear John Lee recording for the CHESS or VEEJAY Labels in the 50's.

BTW it is me playing on the recording&I would be happy to have 50% of the class of any of the 2 Sonnyboys -LOL

    Thanks&bye
